Grace

Whoa! Every time I am asked to write devotions, I pray that I will receive what I call an easy assignment. Well God sure has different ideas. So here goes.

Paul writes the book of Romans, and Paul makes us think as we read and re-read that difficult work. We have all learned through Bible studies and Sunday sermons that we are not saved by the works we do. Jesus died on the cross so that we would be saved. What a sacrifice Jesus made for us. Amazing grace! What a powerful message. Every day we need to remind ourselves that it is not by our works that we are saved. By doing so, we will be ever grateful to God and thus inspired to help those less fortunate than us.

God shows us the righteousness that has now been given to us. (verses 21-22) Righteousness through faith!

So let us go out into the world and celebrate the heart of our faith, and share the good news that grace is a gift.

Gracious God, we pray that the Spirit will continue to unite the church today. We pray that we will listen for God calling us through forgiveness with comfort and lots of joy. Amen. — DMF
