"If I go forward, he is not there; or backward, I cannot perceive him; on the left he hides, and I cannot behold him; I turn to the right, but I cannot see him. (verses 8-9)
I expect most of us have times in our lives when we feel we can’t find God. We yearn for that place, that moment when we would feel God’s presence.
The good news is that it’s not about us finding God. God’s promise is that God is with us always and everywhere. We may not “feel” God’s presence, but thankfully, it’s not up to us or how we feel.
Our God is like what is described in Psalm 139; there is nowhere we can go where God is not. Sure, there may be times we feel like Job. When we feel we can’t find God, it is then that we most need our church community to remind us that God never leaves us.
Everlasting God, help us to know of your presence with us at all times and in all places, even when it doesn't feel like it. Amen. — HRW
