My wife and I have dual citizenship, which can be a giant pain when crossing the border. An agent will always ask me where I was born. I say, “Pennsylvania.” Then they ask her, and she says, “Saskatchewan.” I guess it’s odd for an American boy and a Canadian girl to meet and fall in love, but it happens! How it happened is another story, well worth the telling.
So, we now have official papers that tell us we’re allowed into whatever country we’re trying to enter. I get that. But why would anyone say that Jesus could not be God’s anointed, simply because of his birth certificate? That I don’t get. God will inspire and anoint and redeem creation through whomever the Spirit chooses. It is not where we come from, but who sends us that matters! God’s folks are all born to be sent on a sacred mission.
Thank you, Lord, for all the people you have allowed to walk with us along the King's highway. They come in all colours, from different generations, and yes, with different labels, but you sent every one of them, and for every one of them who enriches our lives, thanks! Amen. — BB
