Powerful events and moments happen around us each and every day. Whether it is the birth of a new baby, those first steps or first words, someone overcoming a personal challenge, a victim walking away from a horrific accident or a cancer survivor completing a marathon, we are surrounded by such moments each and every day. What is interesting is the fact that we may not always be aware of it, even when it is right in front of our own noses.
What prevents us from truly seeing? Or truly hearing? There are likely a number of reasons. However, when I think about my experience in coaching, it is often a case of simply not being in the moment, not being present. We have a million and one things running through our heads; we are multi-tasking and planning our next steps, we are thinking about conversations that we have had or plan to have. We are doing everything except being in the moment.
Mary Magdalene was present and in the moment, and as such she was able to see Jesus and hear his words. One could say that it was one of his gifts to her.
Lord, you have blessed me with the ability to see and hear. Let me use those gifts as you intended, to witness the miracles that surround me. Amen. — DR
