Thursday December 22nd, 2016 Isaiah 9:2-7
For a child has been born for us, a son given to us?and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (verse 6)
“I’m just not ready for Christmas!” is a familiar complaint these days; we may have uttered it ourselves as one detail after another is added on the to-do list. Gifts, visits, greeting cards, baking, cleaning, dcor, special events? Will it all get finished in time? But the real question, the one we’re carrying around inside and often ignoring, is “Am I ready for Jesus?”
O Lord, keep us always mindful and grateful for your infinite redemptive action. Amen. — PF
